The fear of missing out , or FOMO , is an emotional reaction to the perception that significant events are occurring without one's involvement or that others are leading better, more fulfilling lives. It may result in depressive, phobic, anxious, or stressed out feelings as well as life dissatisfaction. FOMO can take many different forms, like checking your phone nonstop, posting everything on social media, or being extremely anxious at the idea of being stranded without a phone. Additionally, it may encourage dangerous habits like texting and driving, which can be fatal. It can also have a detrimental influence on general health and wellbeing to encourage negative psychological and behavioral symptoms such anxiety, lack of emotional control, diminished life competency, emotional tension, poor sleep, and bad impacts on physical well-being.
